Teacher Assistant

Job Description:

“Helping teachers create and prepare lesson plans, working with students one-on-one or in groups, taking attendance and monitoring students during school routines, making sure the classroom is safe and tidy.”

What do I do?

As a teacher assistant I provide classroom support for our primary teacher as they guide the class through a lesson, by preparing materials, interacting with students, and supervising activities in the classroom and outside during gross motor activities. My duties include implementing the teacher’s lesson plans and maintaining daily classroom routines, supporting each child’s social, emotional, and intellectual growth and development, also always ensuring the wellbeing and safety of children. I use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies, as directed by the teacher, to meet individual student needs. I maintain communication with parents and staff regarding the progress of students when the teacher is absent.”

When did I start at Egenolf?

November 11, 2003.

What makes Egenolf so special?

“Egenolf is so special because we include every child's family, language, and culture into the program. We also promote the learning environment during the daily routine, and provide adult-child relationships. The teaching practices are excellent.”

Something people probably don’t know about me.

“I grew up with twin brothers who had special needs. They were the reason why I love to work with special needs kids.”
